I started my first Bohus Stickning sweater the other day, Large Lace Collar by Karin Ivarsson. The color of the body and sleeves is black. I bought the kit from Solsilke in 2009.
I began by swatching of course. My swatch is in the round (ITR), ribbed at first, and just black so far. Looks like I will get the desired gauge with 3.00mm needles, a.k.a. 2.5US. I discovered that, in my KnitPicks set of small double-pointed needles (DPNs) there are six 3.25mm and four 3.00mm. I also recently discovered that the long circular needles (circs) I have are all 2.5mm, not 1US and 2US as they had been packaged. I'm not sure if they are Addy Turbos or Inox. I will no doubt be buying needles for this project and I will be paying close attention to the size! The reason for my discoveries is a Needle & Hook Gauge by Nancy's Knit Knacks. Nancy's needle gauge starts at 1.5mm and has 0.25mm increments up to 4.5mm, then in larger increments up to 19mm.
The colorwork in the Bohus Stickning designs fascinate me. I hope that by knitting from the kits I will absorb some knowledge of color.
